My new Baby

My mother in-law raises chickens for the eggs. Every year she gets a couple more as laying chickens only produce eggs for about 2 years. This year she got another 10 by mail when they were only a couple days old.

Because they are babies you need to baby them. Thus you need to create a very warm spot for them to spend the first couple weeks while they get bigger. Once they are bigger they can be moved to an outside cage in the hen house. Once they are big enough that they will not escape thru the fence around the coop they can be let out with the other girls.

Thus there are baby chicks living in the bath tub at her house. So taking a shower is an event in itself. Move the chicks out making sure the cat doesn't get to them and that they don't get out of their container. Then you need to clean the poop out of the bottom of the tub. Then you can take your shower then put them back in with all their accessories.

It is really funny to be going potty listening to them just cheeping away.

I claimed one - its a little black one with white wing tips with black feet and 1 white toe. That chicken will now be called Beth
